Division of Bosnian Language and Literature

The Division of Bosnian Language and Literature aims to raise prospective philologists and young academics who are informed about Bosnian language, literature, history and culture. In addition, it is expected that these young scientists will be able to blend their knowledge with the cultural elements of their own society and conduct academic studies on Bosnia and Herzegovina and the other parts of the former Yugoslavia.

Division of Bosnian Language and Literature is the only academic institution in Turkey that provides education in Bosnian. In the 1st and 2nd grades, our curriculum focuses on teaching Bosnian as a foreign language. In the 3rd and 4th grades, curriculum focuses on translation, history, literature and cultural elements. Many different topics such as the grammar, syntax, vocabulary and relations of Bosnian with neighboring Slavic languages are taught to students by expert educators. Moreover, language skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing are taught to students with the contributions of foreign experts working in our Department. In addition, our successful students may study for one (minimum) or two (maximum) terms in Bosnia and Herzegovina or other countries, within the scope of the Mevlana exchange program.

Mevlana Exchange Programme

The Division of Bosnian Language and Literature provides students with the opportunity to continue their education in Bosnia and Herzegovina for one or two semesters within the scope of the Mevlana exchange program. In addition, within the scope of Mevlana, faculty members and staff from Balkan universities, especially from universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, come to our division and conduct seminar.
